About K .J Yesudas
Yesudas is a very popular film playback singer and musician. He is fondly called Gana Gandharvan ("the Celestial Singer"), and is considered to be a cultural icon of Malayalam language. He has to his credit recorded more than 100,000 songs in Bengali, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Arabic, English, Latin, and Russian combined together. He was composer for many number of Malayalam film songs in the 1970s and 1980s. Yesudas has won seven National Awards for the Best Male Playback Singing. The Government of India bestowed him with Padma Shri in 1977, the Padma Bhushan in 2002, and the Padma Vibhushan (second-highest civilian award) in 2017.
